I purchased this straightener over the summer when i noticed the cord on my former, lesser quality iron was beginning to deteriorate. I wanted to purchase either an FHI or a CHI, because I was sick of going through non-brand name straigteners every year. After reading plenty of reviews, i decided on the FHI. Terrible, terrible mistake. It worked fine for a few months, though not as well as I expected. Then, just 5 months after I purchased it, the cord just FELL OUT one day. I tried to shove it back in but it was hopeless. I called customer service and stayed on hold for OVER AN HOUR without being connected to a rep. I sent a polite e-mail to customer service, and when I got a reply (more than a week later) I was told in poor and confusing grammar that I was not eligible to receive a replacement device because I did not purchase my iron directly through FHI. I was livid. I sent back a nasty e-mail stating that if that was true they should leave out the warranty statement that came with my product! I spent a lot of money on that straightener that I could definitely use now. DO NOT PURCHASE AN FHI IRON!

I plugged it in, turned it on, adjusted temp, and nothing happens. Did it a few times. Gave it a rest. Tried again. Read instruction again. Nothing different from the other one I own. It is official. It is malfunctioning product. I don’t even know how to return a product on Amazon.com. I never had the need to do so. It is such a burden and wastes time in a life of a extremely busy person… me.

I’ve tried Jilbere de Paris and recently bought into the Sedu hype (which I quickly returned to the store). I have to say that they don’t compare to this FHI iron. This is a nice width for my thick hair, the plates are smooth and there is no pulling or dragging. The FHI also feels like its made well and has a strong power cord, and you have control over the temperature. I shopped around and compared tons of irons and this one has made me very happy so far.

So I have had a 2 inch Hot Tools for 8 years, and it was time for a new flat iron. I had bought a few and returned them, because they didn’t seem to straighten myhair well. I’m white, but have thick curly hair. I just got this last week and I can not believe how great it is!!! it straightened my hair so fast, and it glided through my hair. I recommend this to anyone who wants a good quality flat iron, but does not want to pay $200 for one. I bought the 1 3/4 inch. Thanks Amazon for this great deal!!!
